I am completely astounded that I am sat here writing my blog post for Lady Hunter’s second birthday. I cannot believe how quickly that time has gone, and to be completely honest, I cannot believe I have stuck to a hobby for two years! I started this blog back in 2014 just before doing my GCSE exams (stupid timing I know), and in that time so much has changed. I have nearly finished two years of sixth form, I have turned 18, I can drive, I have a completely different group of amazing friends and I am still enjoying a simple hobby. I feel like such a different person to back then, and looking back through old posts I can see how much I have changed and grown up. I started this blog purely for a bit of fun, and something to do to distract me from school work, but now all I want to do is put hours and hours into it to get it looking as good as possible so that hopefully something will come of it. I am so thrilled that I have found something that I truly love, and enjoy spending so much time on. It is a rare thing nowadays, especially with people my age, as we all just comply to the things everyone else is doing and rarely venture out to start something of our own. I feel like I have built something pretty special, and I couldn’t be more proud. A few little facts for you. In my two years of blogging I have:
Written 443 blog posts & had over 60,000 page views.
My Instagram now has over 2,000 followers and I have posted 963 photos.
For the first year I hated Twitter, and only got into it about 6 months ago. In that time I have managed to get over 500 followers, tweeted 3,303 times and uploaded 459 photos.
On my Facebook page I have now had 3,527 likes, and my most liked photo received 2.6k likes!
I know that in the grand scheme of blogging, these figures are not massive, but to me they are such an achievement. I am proud of what I have managed to do, and I absolutely love working my ass off to get posts out to all my readers and stay active on social media. I love interacting with everyone, and I love being about to share this experience with everyone else in the blogging industry. It is just something that makes me so happy, and in the world we live in, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Ultimately, I don’t do this for anyone else, I do it for me and I hope that is something that will never change. If I only had one reader for the rest of my life, that would still be a good enough reason to keep going.
Quotes from first post
Looking back through some of my first posts I just completely cringe. My photography level was appalling, the way I spoke was so cheesy and what I produced was just quite funny. Going back from then to now I can see how much this blog has developed, and I hope that it continues to do so.
“I am very
excited to be writing my first ever blog. So, let me introduce myself. I am
Abigail Hunter. I have been debating about whether to start a blog for a while,
as i just love capturing all aspects of life and sharing it with people over
social networking sites… my favourite being the amazing Instagram! You should
all follow me: young_hunter_xo ! I am a very passionate baker, even though I
struggle to find the time with all these dreaded exams, however they will
shortly be over and I will have a lot of time to bake and blog! I cannot stress
enough how much I cannot wait to leave school and never have to wear my
horrible uniform again. It is dreadful. This leads me nicely on to my next
major love, fashion. As my best friend would probably tell you, I am very much
in love with fashion, especially when it comes to shopping. I live with my
grand-parents in Bristol, which means that I am able to take full advantage of
grand-parent perks, such as clothes! It is truly fantastic. I have grown up
with the belief that how you present yourself is extremely important, so this
is reflected in my personality through my outfit choices and my typical
reserved personality. As this is the first time I have written for my blog, I
would like to share some images from the past couple of months that show how I
live my extremely busy life.”
Cute but Cringe!
Favourite Fashion Posts
Over the past two years, I have published quite a few outfit posts. Originally, this blog was going to just be fashion, but then I decided that I also wanted to post my recipes. Before starting this blog, I had no idea how many others there were out there, and how evolved the industry was. After starting to post, I realised how many others there were doing what I had wanted to do. I noticed that they were all called Fashion and Lifestyle blogs, so obviously I made mine the same. I then started blogging about way more than fashion, but I have tried to focus on this as much as possible. I wanted to share my outfit choices and my style, and I think that I have managed to do that successfully. I am going to link some of my favourite outfits from the past two years!
As I mentioned, I really wanted to get as many of my recipes into this blog as possible, and I feel like I have certainly done this in the past two years. My pallet has defiantly matured, and I now eat so many more different variations of food. Not only has this improved my diet, but it has also made cooking much more interesting, and I have experimented with so many different types of ingredients. I absolutely adore cooking, and find it so therapeutic to create my own recipes and be able to share them with all of you. A few of my favourite are:
Five Big Blog Moments
In my two years of blogging, I have had quite a few opportunities to work with brands that I have either known really well, or not known and fallen completely in love with. The feeling of being asked to work with a brand will never change – I feel an immense sense of achievement and pride, and will always be so grateful for anyone wanting to work with me. Yes being sent nice things will always be a good bonus, but it is always about much more, you appreciate everything so much more when people believe in you and as a result would like you to work with them. They put a great deal of trust in you – this is something that should never be taken for granted. A few companies that I have worked with include: Asarii
; Treacle Moon
; Mirina Collections
, Lily and Rose
and some more as mentioned below.
The first big blog moment I had was the first time a company emailed me asking if we could work together. This company was Anchor and Crew. They are a beautiful jewellery company who sell homemade authentic jewellery with the theme of sailing. I was so overwhelmed by this, and was so excited as it was the first time I had been asked to collaborate. They sent me a beautiful blue bracelet, which I still wear to this day. A big blog moment for me was when I got to share all about my prom in year 11. This to me was such a significant event, as I absolutely hated school, and counted down the days until we could leave. Prom was an event that I had dreamed of for years, and in the end everything came together just as I had planned. I loved sharing my prom look on the blog, and featuring a bit of my real life. Another company that I have worked closely with is Coconut Lane. When I first worked with them, they seemed to be just starting out and were generally quite small. Now they have such a large range on offer and have created such an amazing beautiful brand. I am so so proud to say that I have worked with this company, and was also very grateful to be featured in their blogger spotlight at the beginning of the year. To see their post on this click here,

Something big that happened last summer was a collaboration with ten other bloggers from all over the world. I was kindly asked by a blogger who organised this if I would be willing to get involved, and I jumped at the chance. We all had to choose a colour, and create two summer outfits based on it – obviously I chose hot pink. We titled our posts Worldwide Rainbow, and used the same name for a hashtag. It was so much fun putting this together, and I am so thrilled to say that I was able to work with such lovely girls. To see our post click here.
The final big blogger moment to me actually happened a few weeks ago. Someone from Three Mobile emailed me asking if I would be able to trial the brand new Samsung S7 for a week. The lovely lady who got in contact had been following me for a while from her personal account, and obviously liked what she saw! I was completely shocked when I got the email through, and remember jumping up and down from pure joy! This was a big collaboration for a little blog like mine, and I am so so proud to say that I had the chance to do this! I mean…SAMSUNG!!
Why do I do this?
I often get people asking me why I blog, and what drives me to keep going. These people are usually people who I see in my daily life, or know somehow. The truth is that sometimes I do think to myself, my gosh my life would be so much easier without it. I would have so much extra time to do stuff for me and relax. But the answer to this question is simple. I am completely head over heels in love my blog. I love absolutely everything about it. I enjoy constantly thinking about ideas in my head, I enjoy taking photos and editing, I enjoy writing posts and I enjoy getting feedback from those who like my work. Yes it can be tough, it is a 24/7 thing that never stops. There is always another post to write, another idea in my head and another notification on social media, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have finally found something that gives me a more positive outlook on life, and it makes me want to get up in the morning and work for it. Being completely honest with you all, this is exactly what I want to do with my life. I want to be a professional blogger, and I am willing to work day and night to get there. I fuel so much energy into this because I know that it will all be worth it. It just takes time and persistent hard work.
What’s to come… YOUTUBE!
So what’s to come? Last year for my first birthday post, I pretty much just said more posts! However, this year is different. There is something new coming! After months of debating with myself, I have finally decided to start a Youtube channel to go alongside this blog. I want to do more, and Youtube seems like the perfect way. I finish sixth form in a matter of weeks, and am not planning on going to university. Next year I am dedicating my life to blogging and being a youtuber, in order to give everything a much more professional approach. My Youtube is going to contain weekly vlogs published every Sunday evening, and hopefully a main video mid week. I want this to relate to my writing, so I am going to be filming some recipes, creating some lookbooks and showing you guys the things that make me happy. I’m guessing it is going to take me a while to get into the swing of it, but I am going to try my best. I am also going to be doing some photography and filmmaking classes next year, in order to improve the quality of my work, so hopefully you will all enjoy it more. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who follows my progress, as well as my friends, family and boyfriend for their constant support.
If there are any particular blog posts that you would like to see, or videos you would like me to film, please feel free to let me know! You can either comment below, message me on social media (links to your right), or send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
