As you may have seen on Lady Hunter a few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful sensory experience with Shy Mimosa in Clifton Village, Bristol. I had the most magical few hours with Maria, embarking on a historical ride regarding small independent perfumers, learning about all these special and beautiful brands. If you would like to read more about my experience at Shy Mimosa, and a few things that I learnt from my time, you can read the full post here.

Learning about the history behind some truly gorgeous brands I discovered a new love for a specific scent. It is perfect for me in every way and now is a vital part of my look each morning.

When it comes to perfume I have never really experimented, always going for something that I think I like or because it is allegedly being worn by a famous star. This is not something I am proud to admit, but I don’t think I am by any means alone in the thought process. Maria really made me think twice about these decisions, and opened my eyes to the entire world of unique and truly special scents created by independent brands. Daniel Josier is a large feature in Shy Mimosa, as Maria herself has fallen in love with his perfumes. Daniel Josier and Shy Mimosa were kind enough to gift me with one of these, the scent being hand-picked for me by Maria after completing my sensory experience.

Daniel Josier

Founded in 2014, Daniel Josier used his skill that he had acquired from working with large brands to branch out and create something of his own. His world seems to revolve around perfume, with the adventure of finding the perfect scent taking up all his days and a lot of nights. As with any artist, his work is only completed once it has reached its maximum potential. Everything he thought it was going to be should be there, and so much more. These perfumes are aimed to enhance your daily experiences.

All of his creations are that of countless hours of dedicated hard work, in order to produce a range of truly unique and extraordinary scents.

A few words from Daniel

“After my studies, I started in the world of perfumery in 1997, responsible for large accounts for the creation of essences by Haarman & Reimer (now Symrise), a German multinational of the perfume industry, coming into contact with companies such as Sara Lee , Unilever, L’Oréal, Puig, LVMH.

In 2004 I made the leap to Iberchem society, responsible for the area of creation of perfumes for the Spanish market.

Continued….

Since 2008 I have been responsible for the French company Expressions Parfumées for Iberia (Spain-Portugal) having clients like Puig (CH, Rabanne, Ricci, Prada, Valentino), Yves Rocher, L’Occitane, and others.

In January 2009, I created and developed my own company L’Atelier del Perfume which was born to combine the work I do in the industry and create not only the essences but the finished product to small companies.”

It is said that no one is ever fully clothed without perfume. That to be enveloped and embraced in a wonderful fragrance upon your skin is an enchantment all on its own.

My Scent | Josune

Josune ∞ Energy and Love

I was blown away by every scent in Shy Mimosa, however I knew the minute I experienced Josune it was perfect for me. Branded as being positivity in a bottle by Daniel Josier, it was created solely to convey simple happiness. It is rich in tone and makes me smile with every spritz, suggesting that Daniel Josier mastered what he set out to achieve. After many attempts at trying to succeed with this perfume, he finally hit upon the correct combination and named it after the person who fills him with the most happiness and love.

With notes of bergamot, rose and jasmine, the fragrance has a very floral based scent which are then balanced perfectly with woody tones. These come from the mixture of patchouli, sandal wood and iris. To complete the scent, and in my opinion give it that richness that makes me smile, it then also contains vanilla, praline and musk. All these components works beautifully together to create a very upbeat and relaxing scent that I simply can’t wait to smother myself in every morning.

The Daniel Josier collected featured in Shy Mimosa is extremely varied, with there really being something perfect for everyone. Pop into the Bristol based boutique and let Maria spoil you with her time and excellent knowledge of the finest perfumes on the market.
